Week 22

Week: 22

P Size: About the length of a spagetti squash.

Total Weight Gain/loss: 14

Stretch Marks: One little teeny tiny one on the right breast.

Maternity Clothes?: Yes please!

Sleep: Still sleeping great.

Movement: I saw our baby move from the outside on 10/17! It was awesome! Sadly Warren had left the house and it was just baby and me. I felt soem really really strong regular kicks right out front so I pulled up my shirt and watched...a few moments later there was a rumbling on the outside of the belly! I was so excited! Now to get the baby to do that while Warren is home:) The movement is usually more internal then out front. Little P likes kicking my hips.

What I Miss: The feeling of being happily full without any heartburn. (Still...it is getting worse)

Status of the Button: Getting shallower by the week but still in. (Still)

What I'm Looking Forward to: The arrival of our first big purchase for Little P...our BOB stroller!

Best Moment this Week: Seeing Little P kicking from the outside! Love the few I could see!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: I am a cup size E...there is nothing more I can say other than I started a C!

P Milestones: Week: 21

P Size: About the length of a carrot.

Total Weight Gain/loss: 14

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes, and it is becoming an even mix of pants and shirts. I am still stetching some of my non-maternity shirts but most have been retired until after baby.

Sleep: Still sleeping great.

Movement: Yes and it is getting stronger and stronger by the day! Warren felt the baby for the first time this week!!

What I Miss: The feeling of being happily full without any heartburn.

Status of the Button: Getting shallower by the week but still in. (Still)

What I'm Looking Forward to: We start birthing class this Friday.

Best Moment this Week: Having Monday off work. Although we spent it working on the house...it was nice to not have to go into work.

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Holy Boobies! They are getting pretty large. I also have one little tiny stretch mark on the bottom right breast:(

P Milestones: Baby's lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and baby is even developing tiny tooth buds beneath the gums. Eyes have formed, but irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside the belly, the pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Week 21

Week: 21

P Size: About the length of a carrot.

Total Weight Gain/loss: 14

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes, and it is becoming an even mix of pants and shirts. I am still stetching some of my non-maternity shirts but most have been retired until after baby.

Sleep: Still sleeping great.

Movement: Yes and it is getting stronger and stronger by the day! Warren felt the baby for the first time this week!!

P Milestones: You may soon feel like baby is practicing martial arts as the initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to baby's activity as you get to know them better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

week 20

Week: 20

P Size: About the length of a banana.

Total Weight Gain/loss: 13

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yep, still no shirts but pants are a yes!

Sleep: Only had a few nights of sleep effected because of my hip/butt pain.

Movement: Much stornger movement on the outside.

What I Miss: not feeling huge. I am loving being pregnant but it sure is different to have a belly! Plus I lose my breath very easliy.

Status of the Button: Swallow but in.

What I'm Looking Forward to: Prenatal Yoga! Sharon and I went last Sunday and we are now making it a weekly date. I loved it! Last week the instructor really focused on stretching and opening the hips. I needed that so much with the pain I have had in that area! Plus it reminded me that I need to take time for myself and the baby and make it a priority to go to Yoga and work out during the week!

Best Moment this Week: Feeling very strong kicks on the outside! On Monday (10/22) Little P was kicking or jumping off of my left hip bone and it was so strong on the outside. I think Warren could have felt it if he wasn;t still half a sleep.

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Nothing new here.

P Milestones: He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Food Cravings: Cheese.

I have been indulging a little to much in the sweets department which I think is showing in my weight gain. I have vowed this week to focus more on my health for the sake of Little P and myself through this amazing journey.

Warren, Grandma, Grandpa, and Ronpa worked ont he house this weekend. Ronpa took lots of junk left from great grandma and pa and also some contruction trash. Warrena dn Grandpa finished the pantry and moved the china hitch into the dining room. We are trying har dto get the upstairs done before Little P comes into the outside world.

It is now fall in Anchorage. With the wind and rain we have had many of the trees are alreayd missing most of there leaves. It is getting cold really quick and it has already snowed once which is crazy!

Week 19

Week: 19

P Size: About the size of a large heirloom tomato.

Total Weight Gain/loss: 13

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: YES! But still only pants. I am still wearing my normal shirts although some have finally been retired. Not having to wear maternity shirts yet.

Sleep: My pillow is my friend! Plus I sleep much better when Warren is home.

Movement: yes! It is very noticable on the inside and we sure have a mover and a shaker! Little P seems to like tossing and turning all the time.

What I Miss: Not being so busy at work! I have been missing work outs because I have been so consumed with work that I lose track of time:(

Status of the Button: Getting shallower by the week but still in.

What I'm Looking Forward to: Starting birthing classes and our breastfeeding class!

Best Moment this Week: Very noticable movement on the outside:)and seeing our little person on Monday!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Not to much has changed recently. Still getting bigger in the belly and the boobs are different but nothing has changed too much in the last week.

P Milestones: Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Food Cravings: Cheese

Week 18

Week: 18

P Size: About the length of a bell pepper.

Total Weight Gain/loss: +13

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes!

Sleep: I finally ordered and recieved a pregnancy pillow. This is a true lifesaver! I have slept so well since I have started sleeping with it! Love it!

Movement: Yes! Still mainly from the inside but as it gets stronger and less fluttery I am getting exctied to start feeling it more on the outside. I have felt a couple movements from the outside this week but nothing mjor or enough for others to feel yet. Plus I can not wait until Warren can feel it! Should only be a few more weeks:)
*The night of 9/22 I felt the baby on the outside for the first time!!! so exciting*

What I Miss: Not much...I am trying to enjoy pregnancy! However, my butt/hip not hurting...I do miss be able to walk pain free.

Status of the Button: In still but getting more shallow.

What I'm Looking Forward to: Still our ultrasound next Monday!

Best Moment this Week: Being present for little Hawkins Conkling being born and feeling our Little P on the outside that night!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: My nipples are huge! Crzy huge! Warren thinks they need thier own zipcode...lol! But it is only the nipple and not the areola.

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) Dreams are better but I have been a lot more sensitive lately.

P Milestones: Baby is busy flexing thier arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. Blood vessels are visible through the baby's thin skin, and the ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from the head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around the nerves, a process that will continue for a year after the baby is born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound

Food Cravings: Still cheese but I have also ben wanting bread.

Friday, September 17, 2010

week 17

Week: 17

P Size: About the size of a turnip.

Total Weight Gain/loss: +10

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes!

Sleep: Still sleeping great wtith Warren home! Although I traveled to Fairbanks for a two day work conference and could not sleep for anything! Luckily it was only one night!

Movement: Yes, and the movement seems stronger this week and I can now feel it during the day.

What I Miss: Not having heart burn!

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Our next ultrasound on 9/27! and my new weekly massage's:) The theripist said it was necessary since I am so tight.

Best Moment this Week: My massage and getting told I need to now come once a week:)

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: the movemnet that I can feel through out the day! Plus I think I felt a something from the outside when I couldn't sleep in Fairbanks!

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) Still just the crazy vivid dreams!

P Milestones: Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Food Cravings: we are back to cheese

Thursday, September 9, 2010

week 16

Week: 16

P Size: About the size of a avocado.

Total Weight Gain/loss:

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes, I have even used a couple of shirts now.

Sleep: Warren is back and I am sleeping pretty great!

Movement: Yes, but still faint and only at certain times.

What I Miss: Not being sick! I got a little cold this week.

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Our next ultrasound on 9/27!

Best Moment this Week: Dr. appt that Warren got to go to.

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: I learned that my uterus is right out front and it the reason I am looking so pregnant this early.

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) Still just the crazy vivid dreams!

P Milestones: His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Food Cravings: we are back to cheese.

Warren's realization

Warren turned to me and said kind of questioning:
W- "So you are not having any drugs during labor, right?"

M- "Nope, they are not even an option at the birth center."

W- "Really!?"

M- "Yep, that is the whole idea behind going to a birth center instead of a hospital."

lol!

week 15

Week: 15

P Size: About the size of a apple.

Total Weight Gain/loss:

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes for all pants now.

Sleep: I can sleep so great now that Warren is home!

Movement: Yes, but still faint and only at certain times.

What I Miss: Warren becasue he left for Moose hunting:(

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Warren coming home so sad that this is a reaccuring theme!

Best Moment this Week: Finding out the Sharon is pregnant!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Nothing to crazy...just the baby bump keeps getting fuller!

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) Nothing too bad still. But the dreams are crazy vivid!

P Milestones: She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

Food Cravings: Shrimp and seafood.

How's the W? I am taking this out from now on...

Friday, August 27, 2010

Week 14

Week: 14

P Size: About the size of a clenched fist

Total Weight Gain/loss:

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes for all pants now.

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty great this week so far!

Movement: Yes, but still faint and only at certain times.

What I Miss: ??

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Warren coming home and we are going to Girdwood for a little getaway:)

Best Moment this Week: Lunch at Bennihana

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Nothing to crazy...just the baby bump keeps getting fuller!

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) Nothing too bad still. But the dreams are crazy vivid!

P Milestones: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Food Cravings: Shrimp and seafood.

How's the W?: good but still out of town.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Week 13

Week: 13 2days

P Size: About the size of a peach

Total Weight Gain/loss: +5

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes for all pants now. I can still wear my pre-prego jeans but not if I have to sit down...so it isn't worth it. Plus the maternity jeans are SO comfortable!!

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty great this week so far!

Movement: I am pretty sure I felt little P! It was super light and faint but I am pretty sure it was the baby!

What I Miss: Warren A LOT A LOT!!!

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Prenatal massage tomorrow!!!

Best Moment this Week: Feeling the baby!!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Look much larger in then evening than in the morning. Boobs are starting to sore in the mornings again. (This is still true) It is amazing how my bump changes from day to day also.

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) No t anything bad yet...but the week is still early;)

P Milestones: The head is still disproportionately bigger than the body, but the rest of the body is starting to catch up. In fact, your baby is growing rapidly these days. The face is starting to look more human, with eyes moving closer together. Toes and fingers are clearly separate, and ankles and wrists have formed. External genitalia are becoming visible. Intestines are shifting into their proper place, too.

Food Cravings: Shrimp has been the craving this week.

How's the W?: Still gone?

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

12 week appt.

My second Dr. appt went great! We could hear Little P's heart beat with the Doppler this time! My uterus is officially out of my pelvic cavity and about an inch above my pelvic bone.

And Little P has the lowest possibility for Down Syndrome and the other things the Ultra Screen tested for! Yay for Little P you passed your very first test:)

I, however, have to start watching my weight gain. While Kim and Leslie reassured me that they both gained A LOT in their first trimesters and not to worry...My midwife wants me to try and stay under 10lbs gained until after week 20. We will see how that works out?!?!

Monday, August 9, 2010

Week 12

Week: 12

P Size: About the size of a large lime

Total Weight Gain/loss: +5

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yes for work pants may be this week for jeans...we will see!

Sleep: Not so tired any more and I am sleeping through the night with the exception of one time wake up for the restroom break and sometimes eating.

Movement: Still too small to feel but think Little P had the hiccups at the ultra sound last week...P is so cute already!!

What I Miss: Warren a lot!!!

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: 12 appt. and first prenatal massage.

Best Moment this Week: The reunion is over!! Thank goodness! But it was really good to see a bunch people from high school.

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Look much larger in then evening than in the morning. Boobs are starting to sore in the mornings again.

Hormone Craziness?? (I am adding this because it is necessary:)) Poor Warren! I have had a couple freak outs in the last week. It is because I miss him so much but I do realize after the fact that he is just as upset as I am about having to be gone! Sorry honey!

P Milestones: Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, the toes will curl, eye muscles will clench, and the mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response (Baby P did this at the ultra sound last week!), although you won't be able to feel it. The intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into the abdominal cavity about now, and the kidneys will begin excreting urine into the bladder (little P's was already full last week!). Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. The face looks unquestionably human: The eyes have moved from the sides to the front of the head, and the ears are right where they should be.

Food Cravings: Still grilled cheese and milk...yum! Or grilled cheese with ham!

How's the W?: Good but missing home and he was sad he had to miss the last ultra sound but did call and get to hear the heart beat over the phone.

Friday, August 6, 2010

Ultra Sound for Ultra Screen

This was such an exciting ultra sound! Little P looks like a baby! Plus P's little system is fully functioning! The stomach was full as well as the bladder and you could see P swallowing! It was so cool and amazing! you could see both arms, hands, legs and feet as well as the tiny finger buds and toe buds! They did a screen where you could see the blood pumping from the heart and through the body. It was just so exciting ans crazy that Little P is so small (58cm or about 2 1/4 inch) and all of this is already happening.

Grandma Linda came and was so excited to see Little P for the first time!

Also W called and got to hear the heartbeat over the phone...he said it sounded like a drum beat:)

And onto the UltraScreen. The tech measured the nuchal translucency (the fluid accumulation behind the neck of the fetus)and also looked at how the nasal passage had developed. The tech said they started doing this because baby's with Down's usually have a different nasal passage then non-Down baby's. Plus they prick your finger and take five dots of blood to test for two chemicals called free Beta human chorionic gonadotropin, and pregnancy associated plasma protein-A(PAPP-A) which are normally found in the blood of all pregnant women. I will not get the results of the blood test until later this week however the measurment for the Fluid in the neck was within normal range and Little P has all four chambers of the nasal passage already formed. So both are good signs so far that there is no Downs for Little P yet. Which is exciting to know!

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Week 11

Morning:

After work:

Before Bed:

Week: 11

P Size: About the size of a fig.

Total Weight Gain/loss: +4

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Still just work pants. Jeans will need to be maternity soon for comfort reasons. Anything pressing on my lower abdomen causes a stomach ache. So my jeans still fit but if I have to sit down they now need to be pulled up above my belly button or unbuttoned.

Sleep: Still a little tired but I think that is due to running around for my 10 year High School reunion.

Movement: Still too small to feel.

What I Miss: Warren!!! Sleep and the sun! It has been raining almost non-stop since Warren left on July 20!

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Now the ultra sound at the end of the week!!

Best Moment this Week: I am looking into the future but it will be the ultrasound...I am pretty sure!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: On most days I look pregnant. However, it is amazing how each day the stomach looks different! Some days it is sticking way out and is round...others it is almost normal with just a little bump in the lower abdomen area. It is pretty weird!

P Milestones: The hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under the gums, and some of the bones are beginning to harden.
The baby is already busy kicking and stretching, and the tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccuping that may be happening now that the diaphragm is forming.

Food Cravings: Still grilled cheese with a big cup of milk!

How's the W?: He is still working out of town and will continue to for a while:(

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

week 10

Total Weight Gain/loss: +3

Stretch Marks: none

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: 12 appt.

Best Moment this Week: That the company picnic I am planning will be over:) Can not wait!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: My stomach pooch is looking more and more round.

P Milestones: He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

Food Cravings: Dairy still. Grilled cheese is Divine right now!

How's the W?: He is still working out of town and will continue to for a while:(

Crafty

I would like to make these for Little P.

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Week 9

Week: 9 and 4 days

P Size: About the size of a strawberry:)

Total Weight Gain/loss: +1

Stretch Marks: none

Maternity Clothes?: Yep, crazy I know! But my work pants sit at really bad places on my tummy and cause it to hurt when sitting down most of the day. So I went and got three pairs of work pants that will hopefully last for a few months if not till the end:) All my jeans still fit since they all sit really low on my hips.

Sleep: Not so tired all day now! That is exciting and I seem to be sleeping better through the night. I still have to wake up at least once to pee though, but can go right back to sleep!

Movement: too small, but saw it on the ultra sound!

What I Miss: Warren still since he came and went so quickly! Also not having headlights ALL THE TIME! It is really crazy!!

Status of the Button: Very In

What I'm Looking Forward to: Warren coming home and the 12 week appt.

Best Moment this Week: Seeing our little P for the first time and hearing the little heart beating away!

Preggers Bod-New and Exciting!..maybe?: Boobs are not that sore anymore...still tender but not super sore. I also think I have a belly pooch that is round. I have only gained a pound so I am not sure if I am imagining it or not.

P Milestones: The arms and legs are longer, and the fingers might be a little swollen where the touch pads are forming. The head is more erect and neck is more developed. Your baby now moves its body and limbs, and this movement can be visible during an ultrasound, but you won't be able to feel it yet.

Food Cravings: Dairy and tacos.

How's the W?: He left again on Tuesday the 20th to go work in Unalakleet and is not due to return until the end of August! I am sad but it is better than no work...I guess. He has been working late so we have missed each other online the last two nights since my bed time is a little early. He was excited to be here for the first ultra sound.

Monday, July 19, 2010

First Glimps of Little P

We had our first ultra sound since W is in town and will be out of town at the 12 week Ultra screen.

We have an activive little one who did not stop moving at all! It was so heart warming to see our little being just living away in there! I am already in love!!!

Little P at 9w/1d

First Dr. appt.

So I had the long Dr. appt. today. I had blood drawn, urine test, and a long talk about all things medical.

Then there was the physical examine. Talk about ouch with a breast examine right now! I have always known I have a backwards uterus and was told it would make a difference when I was pregnant. Well, it is true for the labor and pregnancy but found out today that is is harder to find/hear the baby's heartbeat early on with a backwards uterus:( Oh well...our baby is already daddies little buddy because it is waiting for him to share those amazing little flutters with the world.

Now I can not wait until 8/11!! I think will be the only year in history I will be excited for August!
